Microgreens: a great ally for your hair

Hello friends!
We continue our search for the countless benefits provided by our little friends, microgreens. During this journey, we have discovered their advantages for the environment, health, skin, and even disease prevention, among others. But microgreens go a step further: we have found that they are also beneficial for our hair health. Yes, you heard that right!
An article published on the blog Microgreens World tells us that these tiny sprouts offer an exceptional concentration of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can directly benefit hair health. Let’s dive in.
Key nutrients for hair
As we have mentioned in previous articles, microgreens are rich in essential nutrients that play a crucial role in hair health:
- Vitamins A, C, and E: These vitamins are fundamental for sebum production, the natural oil that keeps the scalp hydrated. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects hair follicles from cellular damage, while vitamin E improves blood circulation in the scalp, ensuring an adequate supply of nutrients to hair follicles.
- Minerals like iron and zinc: Iron is essential for transporting oxygen to hair follicles, and its deficiency can lead to hair loss. Zinc, on the other hand, is crucial for repairing and growing hair tissue, as well as keeping the sebaceous glands functioning properly.
- Antioxidants and phytochemicals: Compounds like polyphenols found in microgreens such as broccoli and red cabbage help reduce oxidative stress, a factor that contributes to premature hair aging and hair loss.
Microgreens highlighted for hair health
Some microgreens stand out for their nutritional profile, which is especially beneficial for hair. Here are a few:

- Radish microgreens: They contain vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc, all essential for hair health.
- Sunflower microgreens: High in vitamin E, these sprouts act as antioxidants, protecting hair from environmental damage and promoting healthy growth. As you know, we have been planting sunflower microgreens in our office, and we will soon share their effects on our hair.
In Conclusion
Microgreens are a natural and accessible source of nutrients that can significantly contribute to hair health. Including them in your daily diet, along with a proper hair care routine, can be an effective strategy for maintaining strong, shiny, and healthy hair.
