Visit our latest posts where we shared face masks and toner recipes to get started. In this post, we are expanding your beauty routine by introducing microgreens-infused water and a diy hydrating face cream. Ready to glow?
Hydrating Spa Water
A recipe as easy as drinking water. If you can’t get enough of microgreens and their benefits, you can also infuse water with cucumber slices, lemon, and a few stems of microgreens for a refreshing, hydrating drink that supports your skin from the inside out. Add mint, fruits or even tea, mix and match and have fun, create your own drink according to your preferences and allergies. Simple, isn’t it?
Consistency is key. By introducing microgreens into meals and snacks, you make glowing skin foods an effortless part of your lifestyle.
Microgreens face cream
Microgreens can be incorporated into homemade face creams to deliver a concentrated dose of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential nutrients that support skin health and hydration. The process is simple, you only need to combine the base cream and add the blended microgreens.
Why it works:
This recipe uses simple oils and easy to find ingredients instead of specialty or expensive butters and waxes. It won’t be the same as a store-bought cream, but it’s as moisturizing, nutrient-rich, and effective.
Ingredients
- 1 handful of fresh spinach or sunflower microgreens
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (solid at room temperature)/ shea butter / mango butter
- 1 tbsp beeswax (find it in pharmacies, craft shops, or online)
- Optional: a few drops of vitamin E oil (sold in most drugstores)
Equipment needed:
- Double boiler (or a heatproof bowl over a saucepan with water)
- Whisk or spoon for stirring
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Sterilized glass jar with lid
Instructions
- Wash and blend microgreens
- Wash and chop the microgreens.
- Melt oils
- In a small heatproof bowl, melt olive oil, coconut oil, and beeswax over a double boiler (or place the bowl in a saucepan with hot water) and stir.
- Combine the microgreens water and oils
- Once melted, slowly add the microgreen water while whisking.
- Stir until the mixture thickens into a creamy consistency (about 5–10 minutes).
- Cool & finish
- When lukewarm, add a drop or two of vitamin E oil if you have it.
- Pour into a clean jar and let it set.
Notes
- It lasts about a month in the fridge.
- Beeswax is optional, but it makes the cream gain texture. Without it, it will feel more like an oil balm (but still great for dry skin).
Summary
There’s a lot of people saying that the secret to having great skin is drinking water. And you know what, they are right, partially. Hydration is indeed important. But it’s not only about what you sip, it’s also about what you put on (and eat).
That’s why, in our efforts to spread the diverse uses and benefits microgreens can bring, we hope you all find these beauty recipes useful and easy to follow.
