When was the last time you switched off your phone, stepped outside, and simply… breathed?

- Location: La Zarza de Pumareda, Salamanca, Spain
- Greek team: 4 participants + 1 group leader

About this Erasmus+ youth exchange in Spain
We live in a fast, highly digital world. We’re always connected to our phones, social media and online noise — and along the way we sometimes lose our connection with nature, with other people, and even with ourselves.
Youth for Sustainable Communities creates a safe, open and participatory space to slow down, breathe, share experiences and explore new ways of living. Through outdoor activities, intercultural evenings, teamwork, creative workshops and non-formal education, you’ll explore wellbeing and emotional awareness, healthy and conscious lifestyles, sustainability and the environment, the relationship between people and nature, intercultural respect, and small actions that create real change.
You don’t need to be an expert in sustainability. What matters is your genuine motivation to take part, learn, contribute and share the experience with others.
Come home with more than memories
This Erasmus+ youth exchange in Spain isn’t only a trip. It’s a chance to return with new knowledge, practical skills, international friendships, and a broader sense of how young people can shape more sustainable communities. During the project you’ll:
- improve your communication and teamwork skills;
- grow more confident and independent in an international setting;
- learn through hands-on activities rather than lectures;
- strengthen your intercultural and social competences;
- explore healthier, more sustainable everyday habits;
- develop ideas you can use in your own community;
- practise English in a supportive, informal group;
- gain a recognised Erasmus+ experience for your CV.
A trusted hosting organisation
You won’t be heading into the unknown. In June 2026, four participants from EVEC Athens took part in another Erasmus+ project in Spain organised by the same host, Fundación Plan B Educación Social. Their experience was very positive — they found the organisation professional, responsible and well organised throughout. That gives us, and you, added confidence that you’ll be joining a serious, high-quality international learning experience with an experienced partner.
A glimpse of that June project in Spain:
Accommodation & meals
You’ll stay in the picturesque village of La Zarza de Pumareda, in the province of Salamanca — a calm, green setting that’s the perfect backdrop for learning and exchange. The programme provides comfortable shared rooms in a well-equipped local facility, shared bathroom facilities, and three meals a day plus coffee breaks. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary needs are respected — just note any allergies or preferences in the application form.
Travel & reimbursement
You’ll normally travel from Greece to Madrid, then continue by bus or train to Salamanca. We’ll send detailed guidance once your place is confirmed. Selected participants must:
- get their travel plan approved by EVEC Athens before buying any tickets;
- keep all original tickets, invoices, receipts and boarding passes;
- take part in the complete programme;
- follow the reimbursement instructions from EVEC Athens and the host.
Eligible travel is reimbursed according to Erasmus+ rules and the approved travel budget. Tickets bought without prior approval may not be reimbursed.
Stay a little longer and explore Spain
Want to discover more of Salamanca, Madrid or the surrounding region? You’re welcome to arrive up to two days before the project or stay up to two days after it ends — at your own cost. Any extra accommodation, meals, local transport and personal expenses outside the official dates are yours to cover, and your full travel plan still needs to be approved before you book. For someone who wants real knowledge and skills and a chance to explore a beautiful, less-touristy corner of Spain, it’s an excellent way to make the most of the trip.
Is this you?
We’re looking for motivated young people based in Greece who are curious, open-minded and ready to step out of their comfort zone. You don’t need previous experience — just real motivation, respect for others, and enough English to take part and connect with the group. Ideally, you’re also genuinely interested in the topics, ready to take part actively, open to other cultures, comfortable in an international group, and happy to share the project results back in Greece.
Age: preferred age 18–26. Under Erasmus+ rules, participants may be aged 13–30, and the group leader must be 18 or older. If you’re within these limits and motivated, we’d love to read your application.
Please note: this project is not a holiday or a free trip. Participants are expected to attend the full programme, cooperate with the group and contribute actively to the learning.
How to apply
Ready to join this Erasmus+ youth exchange in Spain? Apply through the EVEC Athens online application form. In the motivation section, please explain:
- why you want to take part in this particular project;
- what interests you about sustainability, wellbeing, nature or community development;
- what you hope to learn;
- how you could contribute to the international group;
- how you’ll use or share the experience after returning to Greece.
Write your motivation carefully — please don’t send only a line like “I want to travel and meet new people.” We’re looking for applicants who clearly understand the topic and can explain their personal motivation. We’ll review every application and contact the candidates whose profile and motivation best match the project.
Open the application form → Open until all 4 participant places are filled — apply early.
Important: submitting the form does not automatically confirm your participation. Please don’t buy any tickets before you receive official confirmation and approval of your travel plan.
Organised for the Greek participants by EVEC Athens — European Voluntary and Educational Center Athens (sending organisation, Greece), in cooperation with Fundación Plan B Educación Social (hosting organisation, Spain).
