This September, EVEC Athens is sending a three-person Greek team 🇬🇷 to Primorsko, Bulgaria, for an Erasmus+ Partnership Building Activity about the future of European Solidarity Corps projects — mental health, green practices and AI in youth work. Accommodation and all meals are covered. Your travel is reimbursed after the project — up to €309, details below. 💸
🤔 Wait — what’s a “Partnership Building Activity”?
Not a youth exchange. Not a lecture hall. A PBA is a working meeting where the people who actually run European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and youth projects across Europe get in one room, swap what works, admit what doesn’t, and build the partnerships behind the next round of projects. 🤝
Solidarity in Action: Empowering ESC Projects through Digital, Green, and Inclusive Practices is a 5-day Erasmus+ Partnership Building Activity organised by System & Generation. The whole thing is non-formal — you learn by doing, discussing and building, not by sitting through lectures: workshops led by practitioners, peer learning, reflection sessions and hands-on tasks. The big idea is a shared “Mental-Green-AI Network”: a group of organisations that make youth work more inclusive, more sustainable and smarter about technology. You’d be building it from the inside.
👉 The other people in the room run ESC and youth projects for a living. You don’t need to match that — you need one real experience of your own and the nerve to speak up in a room full of people from all over Europe.

✅ Travel — reimbursed after the project, up to the Erasmus+ limit for Athens → Primorsko: €309 (or €417 if your main journey is by train or bus — a flight plus a local bus doesn’t count; check with us before booking). That’s the 500–1,999 km band from Athens — travelling from elsewhere in Greece? Ask us, the amount may differ.
⚠️ Read this twice: you buy your own ticket first. The hosting organisation reimburses your travel after the project, directly to your own bank account, once you’ve handed in your tickets, invoices, boarding passes and the reimbursement form. We can’t promise an exact date; if the timing matters for you, ask us before you apply. Anything above €309 (€417 green) is on you. Travel insurance is strongly recommended and is not covered. If you need a visa for Bulgaria, visa costs are covered by the project.
✈️ Getting there
Primorsko sits on Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast, about 50 km from Burgas. The easy route from Athens:
- Fly Athens → Varna direct — there’s a direct flight and, at the time of writing, it fits inside the €309 budget. Fares move fast — book as soon as EVEC approves your plan, and no later than Sunday 6 September.
- From Varna, take a bus to Burgas and then the bus to Primorsko — about 150 km and roughly 3 hours in total, according to the organisers. The Primorsko bus stops right in front of the hotel.
- If you find a good fare to Burgas instead: buses to Primorsko leave every 30 minutes, and if the organisers know your arrival time they may be able to pick you up from Burgas airport — ask, don’t assume.
Once you’re selected, you’ll need to:
- get your travel plan approved by EVEC Athens before you book, then buy your ticket by Sunday 6 September;
- keep every ticket, invoice, receipt and boarding pass — screenshot and PDF the digital ones. Missing documents = no reimbursement, no exceptions;
- take part in the full programme, from 12 to 18 September;
- follow the reimbursement steps the organisers give you after the project — the money goes straight to your own bank account.
🎒 Pack this (seriously)
The programme has an Organisation Bazaar, a Cultural Snack Exchange night and a little lottery — so your suitcase matters:
- 🍯 Greek snacks or sweets to share on Cultural Snack Exchange night — think loukoumi, pasteli, koulourakia.
- 🎁 One small object for the lottery — everyone leaves Primorsko with something from someone else. Be creative.
- 📣 EVEC Athens materials for the Organisation Bazaar — we’ll sort out EVEC materials together before you go; you bring your own stories.
- 📚 Anything for the shared library — a leaflet, a good practice, a toolkit you love.
👀 Is this you?
We’re looking for three people based in Greece to be EVEC Athens’ representatives at this Partnership Building Activity. You’re a fit if you:
- are 18 or older;
- have done something in volunteering, youth work or ESC — a shift, an event, a project, a level of our Volunteers Academy — and can talk about it. You don’t need to be an expert, but you need at least one real experience to share. The organisers expect youth workers, educators, ESC coordinators and NGO people in the room, and that’s the role you’ll be in;
- can hold a conversation in basic English — it’s the working language, and you’ll be talking a lot;
- can be in Primorsko for the whole programme, from 12 to 18 September;
- are happy to speak for EVEC — what we do, how we host volunteers, what we’ve learned;
- will bring it back — share what you learn with our team and our volunteers in Athens.
Heads up: this is a working week, not a beach holiday. You’re expected to be in every session, contribute, and represent EVEC properly.
📝 How to apply
Apply through the EVEC Athens application form — the same form we use for all our calls. EVEC selects its three representatives, and your motivation is what decides it. In the motivation section, tell us:
- one concrete thing you’ve actually done in volunteering or youth work — an event, a shift, a project, a problem you fixed — and what you learned from it;
- why we should pick you to represent EVEC Athens — what you’d bring to that room;
- which of the three themes — mental health, green practices, AI — you actually care about, and why;
- one thing you’d want to bring back to Greece and do with it;
- confirmation that you’re free 12–18 September and OK paying your ticket upfront (booking by 6 September).
Aim for 200–300 words. Specific beats long.
📌 Important: submitting the form doesn’t confirm your place. Please don’t buy any tickets until you have official confirmation from EVEC Athens and your travel plan is approved — then book by Sunday 6 September.
